There were cooking utensils, pillows, coverlets, dishes, and much more. Everyone was so happy that the parade of gifts turned into a party.

Rhonda’s father, hearing the party from the other end of town, hurried to the miller’s cottage to see what was happening. When he saw what the people had done, he hung his head in shame. Embracing his daughter, he announced that he was giving the young couple a fine new house.

Then, to thank the town for showering so many gifts on Rhonda and Caleb, the father invited everyone in town to a great banquet to celebrate the marriage. Since that time, it is said, bridal showers have celebrated Caleb and Rhonda’s love and the goodness of the townspeople.
