Ideas for Bridal Shower Favors to Make at Home
If you have read the first two parts of our discussion, you are already getting some ideas of your own. The following final ideas may spur further creativity, and have you bubbling over with ideas for bridal shower favors to make.
1. Bottled Water: Small bottles of drinking water or mineral water can readily be made into bridal shower favors. Buy a case of bottled water in the size bottle desired. On your computer, design a label for your bottles. A photo of the bride and groom, wedding date, and names would be good options on a bridal shower favor. Print the labels and put them aside. If desired, paint bright vertical stripes or designs on the bottles. Use colors that will blend with your shower or wedding theme. Allow the bottles to dry, and then affix the labels neatly. Guests may drink the bridal shower favor, or keep the bottles unopened as a memento.
2. Place Mats: Imagine bridal shower favors to make that are entertaining, as well as clever. Place mats can combine party games with bridal shower favors to take home. Design your place mats on a computer, and have them printed at a copy store. Or print a master copy at home and have them enlarged at a copy store. You will want the finished place mats to be about 14″ x 19″. Begin by scanning the bridal couple’s photo into your computer. Place a heart shape around the photo and crop anything outside the heart. Position the photo in the middle of your place mat. Next, add a lacy border to your place mat bridal shower favor. Finally, add pencil games. Paste a bridal gown-shaped maze in one quadrant of the place mat and challenge guests to complete it first. On another part of the place mat, write the words “bridal” and “shower” vertically beside each other, with space between to add letters. Guests see who can enter the longest words that begin with the letter on the left and end with the letter on the right. Example: “Brides” begins with the “b” of “bridal” and ends with the “s” of “shower”. An alternative to games would be to collect guests’ quotes or sentiments and arrange them around the photo on your bridal shower favors.
3. Satin Bookmarks: Satin ribbon bookmarks are another bridal shower favor to make at home. Use 2.5″ wide double-sided satin ribbon in one or more colors to fit your color scheme. With pinking shears, cut a 9″ length of ribbon for each bridal shower favor. Use ultra fine point permanent markers to write on the ribbon. Draw overlapping hearts, rings, bells, or flowers on corners or ends. Down the length of the ribbon, letter the bridal couples names and the wedding date. You will have simple, inexpensive, but memorable bridal shower favors.
4. Love Hangers: These cute bridal shower favors are easy to make, but require time. You will need 1 double and 2 single wooden hearts for each bridal shower favor. The double hearts should be larger than the single ones. Paint the hearts red or pink and allow them to dry. With a permanent marker, print the couple’s “Mr. and Mrs.” name on the double heart, along with the wedding date. Write “Thank you” on the back of the double heart. On each single heart, print his and her first names. Punch holes in the top of each, and string on raffia, with the double heart at the top, the single hearts dangling beneath. The raffia should extend several inches above in a loop for hanging. Tie a pretty bow at the top of each heart, and your bridal shower favor is done.
