Bridal Shower Favors to Make - Part 2
In Part 1 of this article, we described two bridal shower favors to make at home. We continue here with more ideas for bridal shower favors to make.
Ideas for Bridal Shower Favors to Make at Home
In addition to the bridal shower favors of key rings and candle holders, you might like one or more of the following ideas.
1. Sachet Favors: These bridal shower favors might cost as much as $5 each ready-made. You can make them at home for much less. Purchase 3″ wide doll clothes hangers at a craft store. Using the wedding color scheme, if you know it, purchase glimmering fabric in a small, embroidered floral pattern and 0.25″ satin ribbon in a coordinating color. Cut 2 fabric pieces shaped like strapless gowns for each sachet favor. Pieces should measure about 4″ wide and 5″ high. Sew pieces together, leaving small opening to stuff with sachet potpourri. Stuff and stitch shut. With ribbon, cinch gown at waist, and tie a bow. Make ribbon shoulder straps, and attach them to doll hanger with a few stitches.
TIP: You can also make sachet bridal shower favors in a shape to match a theme or destination wedding. Seashells make great sachet bridal shower favors, as do autumn leaves.
2. Butterfly Photo Frames: Photo frames are always good bridal shower favors, and when they feature butterflies, every guest will love them. You will need craft foam in white or pastel colors; iridescent or pastel resin craft butterflies; clear plastic/acetate; flat sheet magnet; and glue. For each bridal shower favor, cut two pieces of craft foam and one piece of sheet magnet, about 2.5″ x 3″. In one piece of foam, cut a window about 2″ x 2.5″. It could be rectangular, oval, or circular. Cut one piece of clear plastic/acetate a little larger than the window. Run glue around the opening for your window and glue the plastic/acetate to it. Glue the second piece of foam to the sheet magnet material. Glue the two pieces of foam together on 3 sides, leaving 1 side open to slip a photo into your bridal shower favor. Glue decorative butterflies to one or more corners of the bridal shower favors. Slip a “Thank you” card into the photo opening.
3. Tea Pots: Mini porcelain teapots with hinged lids are practical, memorable bridal shower favors. With a theme of “Tea for Two” noted on an accompanying card, these bridal shower favors at each table place setting can coordinate with teapot centerpieces filled with flowers. From a craft supplier, purchase a mini teapot about 3.5″ high for each bridal shower favor. Prepare note cards, punch a hole in each, and tie them to the teapots with satin bows. Guests will use these long after the shower for keeping jewelry safe in the kitchen, or as a trinket box. They might also use them as miniature planters for herbs. Be sure you write the bridal couple’s names and the wedding date on the card that accompanies these bridal shower favors.
