Bridal Shower Favors to Make - Part 1

Expert AuthorBridal shower favors are fun - and fun to make. They are usually far fewer in number than WEDDING FAVORS for the reception, and thus more manageable as a craft.

Bridal Shower Favors to Make at Home - 2 Cautions

Bridal shower favors to make at home still involve cost, so keep your budget in mind. What may seem to be a cheap or almost free bridal shower favor may turn out to cost more than anticipated. Take time to list everything you will need for your bridal shower favors. Price materials for one bridal shower favor and then multiple by the number needed. Remember to include ribbon, glue, and tags.

Bridal shower favors to make at home require time also. How much time are you willing - and able - to donate to such a project? Are others willing to help? A good way to determine time involvement is to make a sample of your bridal shower favors. Set a timer before you begin, work as quickly as you can while being careful, and check your time. Realize that you will gain some speed as you get into the “swing” of making the bridal shower favors. However, you will tire, too. You may have interruptions. Calculate required time and pad your total.

Ideas for Bridal Shower Favors to Make at Home

Many ideas for bridal shower favors to make at home come from looking at available bridal shower favors on sites such as My Wedding Favors.

Other bridal shower favor ideas come from your imagination - or from a friend’s imagination. Here are a few creative ideas we like.

1. Wedding Charm Key Rings: No glue needed! At a craft or party store, purchase a plain key ring for each bridal shower favor. The unadorned ring is all you need. Next, select mini wedding charms to put on the key rings. Choose items that go with a wedding. Possible choices might be a ring; cake; heart; flower, butterfly; and key. If the wedding or shower is themed around beach or seaside, you might choose a starfish; seashell; crab; seahorse; and turtle for your bridal shower favors. Place two or three charms on each key ring. Tie on a small tag with satin ribbon.

2. Votive Candle Holders: Candles are very popular as bridal shower favors, and you can make votive candle holders that will be cherished. Begin with simple glass votive holders - straight sides are best. Purchase vellum in colors to match the bridal color scheme. Patterns are available as well, and roses or hearts would be good choices. Cut vellum to the height of the glass holders, long enough to surround them. Use a heart punch to punch out random hearts on the vellum strips. Run a length of thin ribbon along one long edge of the vellum strip. Run another length along the second edge. Stick 0.5″ wide peel-off, double sided adhesive on one short edge of your vellum strip. Carefully match the other end, and stick to form a vellum cylinder. Slip the cylinder over the glass votive holder. Insert a votive and your bridal shower favor is done. As the candle burns, light will shine through the cut out hearts.
