Create Unique Wedding Favors with Ribbon

Expert AuthorIt is common to use ribbons on wedding favors and bridal shower favors. Some use personalized wedding favor ribbons imprinted with the bridal couple’s names. Some feature breast cancer awareness wedding favors with pink ribbons. Others choose wedding favors with yellow awareness ribbons.

Unique wedding favors call for something more. Here are a few ideas. Mix and match them, or use them singly for unique wedding favors your guests will appreciate.

How We Met

Create unique wedding favors featuring the story of how you met. Print the story, or have it printed, on white or pastel paper to match wedding colors. Mount on darker, slightly larger cardstock. Punch two holes at the top of the cardstock. Thread a narrow, pretty ribbon through the holes and tie in a knot. Cut the ends in V’s so they do not extend beyond the card. Envelopes may be used or not.

Edible Favors

You can buy edible favors at My Wedding Favors, a website we review for you. Read our review by clicking here or on the dark blue My Wedding Favors button at the top of this page.

You can create your own unique wedding favor of edibles simply, and use beautiful wide ribbon to wrap it. Purchase plain white boxes in a size suitable for candy. Fill the boxes with bulk candy, and wrap in a wide ribbon. Polka dots are great for these unique wedding favors. Wrap the ribbon so that it comes up all four sides of the box to the top. Tie a bow at the top, and trim the ends in neat V’s.

Personalized Edibles

Thin, personalized ribbon in your color with your names imprinted can be used to wrap boxes of mints. Slip a small, inexpensive charm on each ribbon, and tie with a knot for a unique wedding favor no one will duplicate. Remember to cut the ribbon ends in neat V’s.

Wedding Poem

A wedding poem can be prepared in the same manner as your “how-we-met” story for another unique wedding favor. Use two thin ribbons instead of one for a more luxurious appearance. Be sure the ribbons you choose matches the colors of your wedding. Free, printable wedding poems are available in your library and on the Internet to create truly unique wedding favors.

Charming Ribbons

This unique wedding favor is simple and quick. Use medium thin ribbons in two colors to match your wedding scheme. Purchase small charms that have meaning to the bridal couple: hearts, bells, or something uniquely you. Or use a variety of charms associated with your wedding. Thread both colors of ribbon through each charm and tie in a neat knot, leaving one end long. Present the charm ribbons as bookmark mementoes of your wedding - unique wedding favors.

Ribbons of Flowers

Seed packets are often given as favors. Make yours unique wedding favors with one more step. Print small cards the size of seed packets. A simple thank you, with the couple’s names and date is all you need. Leave the bottom of the cards plain. Purchase white satin ribbon embroidered with a single row of bright flowers. Glue a strip of ribbon across each card, draw stems and leaves below, and “plant” them with rich brown colored pencil.

Ribbon Tea Lights

Finally, ordinary tea lights can become unique wedding favors. Purchase small, inexpensive tea lights, and remove the candle from the metal holder. Measure two or more lengths of ribbon (depending on width) to go around the metal holder. Leave 1.5″ overlap. Using double-backed tape, fasten the ribbon around the metal holder, being careful to keep it below the top. Use ribbons that match your color scheme. Replace the candle. For more unique wedding favors, add sequins.

Fiftieth Anniversary Party Favors

Expert AuthorCongratulations are in order for a couple who has been married for 50 years. A 50th wedding anniversary is becoming a rare event in our society, and one that deserves a party.

Choosing 50th Anniversary Party Favors

In choosing 50th anniversary party favors, you should consider three things:

1. Couple’s life together
2. Guests involved
3. Symbols of a 50th anniversary

Couple’s Life Together

All 50th anniversary party favors should reflect the couple’s life together. This is a celebration of that life, and calls for something that will remind guests of their enduring love for one another. Think about the couple. What do they like most? Do they love spending time at the beach? Do they prefer fishing, golfing, or traveling? Your choice of 50th anniversary party favors can remind guests of that. Here are two “beach” ideas.

1. Candle Holders: Couples who love the beach will appreciate these 50th anniversary party favors. Purchase votive candle holders of frosted glass. Glue thin gold cord in a wide zigzag pattern around the holders. Attach a small seashell at each corner of the zigzag. Insert white or gold candles.

2. Napkin Holders: These 50th anniversary party favors feature gold seashell shower curtain hooks. Slide a white napkin through each and you have inexpensive 50th anniversary party favors. Or give each guest a pair, complete with pretty napkins.

Guests Involved

When choosing 50th anniversary party favors, consider the guests involved in the party. Will most of them be the age of the celebrants, or are they younger people? Will they appreciate a long-lasting, practical favor such as a golden spoon? Would they rather have immediate enjoyment such as a candy bar in a gold wrapper?

Symbols of a 50th Wedding Anniversary

Your 50th anniversary party favors should include at least one symbol of the occasion. The two most common are gold and violets.

1. Gold: Gold is both the traditional and the modern choice for 50th anniversary party favors. Real gold is the gift for a 50th wedding anniversary, so the color gold is appropriate for favors.

2. Violets: You are not limited to gold for 50th anniversary party favors. The flower for a 50th wedding anniversary is the violet.

Combine the color gold and violets by filling miniature gold buckets with tiny silk violets. Or write a poem in gold ink, then decorate the page with violets.

You can find more ideas for “gold” or “violet” 50th anniversary party favors at My Wedding Favors. We review My Wedding Favors on this website. To read that review, click here or on the blue “My Wedding Favors” button at the top of this page. To visit My Wedding Favors right now, click here.

Engraved Wedding Favors

Expert AuthorA wedding favor can be cheap or expensive. It can be a consumable item such as a candle, chocolate candy, or mints. It might instead be a durable item such as a personalized coaster or bookmark.

Engraved wedding favors fall in the second category - durable items. For a Christmas wedding, you may give engraved wedding favors in the form of unique ornaments, personalized with your names. A garden wedding might feature engraved wedding favors in the form of personalized glass votive candle holders.

People appreciate engraved wedding favors, whether the engraving is of symbols, words, names, or other meaningful representation. They appreciate engraved wedding favors in a variety of objects - and usually, they appreciate silver objects that have been engraved.

Unique and elegant wedding favors

Ideas for Engraved Wedding Favor Objects

Among the many objects you might choose for engraved wedding favors in silver are these 7 examples.

1. silver picture frame
2. silver spoons
3. silver candle holder
4. silver place card frame
5. silver bottle opener
6. silver key chain
7. silver photo album

Ideas for Engraved Wedding Favor Words

Engraved wedding favors must have just the right words to be meaningful. The bridal couple will want to consider the possibilities before deciding. A list of possible engraved wedding favor words would be very long, if complete, but these few possibilities may help.

1. Names and date: Silver engraved wedding favors often feature the bridal couple’s names and the wedding date. This makes a durable reminder of their wedding for years to come.

2. Symbols of Love: You might request a love symbol on your silver engraved wedding favors. Symbols such as hearts, doves, entwined rings, and bells are all used.

3. Love Words: Many people use words that describe the marriage and love they hope to have. Words such as “forever”, “devoted”, “together”, and more are found on many engraved wedding favors.

4. Foreign Language: Some (not all) companies that offer engraved wedding favors can engrave your message of love in a foreign language. Oriental calligraphy is especially popular. Be sure you include a card telling guests what the engraved message is.

5. Poetry: If your engraved wedding favor is a large item, you might use a short verse of poetry. Choose something that fits the bridal couple.

6. Bible Verse: A bridal couple to whom religious faith is important will sometimes present engraved wedding favors that feature a verse from the Bible.

Helpful Tip Whatever silver object you choose, be sure your engraved wedding favor reflects you. Never let your wedding favors give an impression that you are anything other than what you are.
